Frankfurt writes its Stories.

Write your story!

This website invites all people living in Frankfurt to tell their stories – people who were born here, who came to Frankfurt at some point for whatever reason, or who are only staying here temporarily.

Here are a few questions that might help you write your story: How did you end up in Frankfurt? Where did you live before? What is your story? Or were you born here? How did you grow up? How do you live here? Where does your family come from? Or has it lived here for generations? What is important to you in the city where you live? What are your favourite places? What connects you to them? What did you bring with you when you arrived in Frankfurt? What do you miss? What are the important things for your memories? ...

Or simply share a brief anecdote from your life.

All the stories of the people who live here contribute

About the project:

A city is a place where countless real-life stories of people intersect on a daily basis. They have contact in certain places, very few of them over a longer period of time, some only once and never again, most of them never.

According to official figures, 178 different nationalities live in Frankfurt - which probably means that a not inconsiderable number of people have moved here. But there are also many who were born here and, of course, a not inconsiderable number of people whose families have lived here for many generations. Everyone, not just the newcomers, has a part to play in integration, i.e. living together respectfully. To this end, it is important that they tell their stories, that there is a space for them and that they meet with interest.
All the individual people, from different parts of urban society, old people, middle-aged people, young people and even children, have their very own stories.

"Frankfurt Writes" aims to collect these stories and make them accessible to the public because they all belong to this city and contribute something important.

The growing archive of stories will be made available on this website step by step, but it is also intended to be presented in various locations and contexts throughout the city, perhaps even installed in one form or another.

The stories can be written anonymously or with the author's name. The names of third parties will be replaced by randomly chosen initials by the editorial team to protect the individuals involved. The texts will be stored in their original form as well as in edited and, if applicable, translated versions (German). There is no entitlement to the inclusion of the texts in the archive.
